Broadband for All

GovOps and its Department of Technology lead the effort to achieve Broadband for All. Through the construction of the Middle Mile network and community engagement, we’re helping to make broadband for all possible for nearly all Californians We’re connecting homes, schools, and businesses to high‑speed internet as quickly as possible.

From implementing AI → now overseeing it safely

GovOps has been tasked with leading state government in accelerating independent oversight and advancing the creation of an AI kill switch. This work is just the latest when it comes to how the state is leading to strengthen AI safety for Californians. It comes after GovOps led efforts in adopting AI technology into state operations. From responsible safety guidelines to advancing workforce capabilities, GovOps continues to ensure government is keeping pace with innovation.

Creating a more efficient government

GovOps is leading the way by integrating efficiencies into state operations—from enhancing workforce capabilities to streamlining hiring processes that were once bogged down by outdated systems. We are embedding AI strategically and removing bureaucratic bottlenecks, proving that a modern government is an effective government—one that frees up resources to focus on what matters most to Californians.

Supporting state operations

We oversee state government improvement, including the strategic management of state resources and advancing innovation in government. In addition, we have direct responsibility for 16 state departments and offices within the Agency, including the departments of Technology, Human Resources, and General Services – which support all departments in the executive branch.
